I’ve nominated you for the Versatile Blogger Award. I like your blog and thought based on its content you deserved this award.
I don’t really know quite what this award means; after all, is a blog confined to posting on a singular (albeit broad) field of science truly “versatile”? Is there any merit to a chain letter award? Are all these questions pointless navel gazing?
Probably, so with good graces I accept this VBA and thank mpbulletin for vindicating the existence of this blog (and hosting the VBA image I’ve sneakily taken and put at the top of this post). It was started to spread information on an interesting field that unfortunatley has information rarely spread about it and this award shows that at least some people are listening.
Also, thank you for feeding my ravenous ego. I haven’t had a subscriber in 5 days and it was getting hungry. And since I am a kind soul, I shall feed the egos of 15 bloggers as the award mandates.
- Science defined; an introduction to science. Simple, yet fun
- Brian Glenney, of Simian rivalry; a kind-hearted soul whose posts have a unique wide-eyed fascination with the world.
- Acollectionofatoms; anthropology and economy. He posts about the economy in a way one expects to turn into a political rant, yet it never does. A refreshing change.
- Carrie Glenney, of Simian rivalry (no, I’m not cheating by doing the same blog twice; seems to be always thinking, and those thoughts always seem to be interesting.
- EyeonICR; a blog providing critical reviews of Institute for Creation Research articles. A noble endeavour.
- Quasar; creating an evolution game. ‘Nuff said
Oh dear, I seem to have run out of bloggers. Please don’t hurt me, I tried my hardest.
Anyhoo, 7 random facts
- Capuchin monkeys are my favourite monkeys.
- I think it should be Homo sapiens neanderthalensis (or some variant of that)
- I’m trying to grow a bonsai tree
- There was a bomb scare during my last archaeological dig.
- I’m partial to Star Trek
- I eat my cereals without milk.
- I named my archaeology trowel “Bob”

I was a bit trepedatious about the whole “chain award” as well but then I came across this posting, http://versatilebloggeraward.wordpress.com/2012/01/31/chain-letter-awards/ where the author offered this perspective;
“The Versatile Blogger Award is whatever we make it. The VBA can disintegrate into nothing more than a “I like you, do you like me?” award. Or, we can endeavor to choose our nominees with greater care… And, I’ve discovered that most of the time, the results are that worthy blogs and bloggers are indeed awarded the VBA!”
I took the latter approach to choose people who put a lot of themselves into their blogs offering something interesting and unique that stand out. I’ve enjoyed your site and its content from when I recently came across it. Hopefully, the award helps to keep the ego well fed…for a little at least 🙂

Congrats! I, too, will validate your blog. This is an area of science I’ve never really explored, so it’s great find for me. And your sense of humor make it enjoyable, although I’d find the material interesting regardless.
Good job! Thumbs Up. +1. Like!
